VBAC Doula Support in Cambridgeshire
If you’re planning a VBAC in Cambridgeshire and want experienced, specialist support alongside your NHS care, you’re in the right place.
I’m Shannon, a VBAC doula based in Huntingdonshire, supporting families across Cambridgeshire through vaginal birth after caesarean, including VBA2C, VBA3C and home birth after caesarean (HBAC).
VBAC Support Across Cambridgeshire
I attend births at all major Cambridgeshire maternity units, including:
Hinchingbrooke Hospital, Huntingdon
Addenbrooke’s Hospital and the Rosie Birth Centre, Cambridge
Peterborough City Hospital
I also support families planning a home birth after caesarean (HBAC) across Cambridgeshire and the surrounding area.
What VBAC Doula Support Looks Like
VBAC isn’t just a different kind of birth, it often comes with a different kind of preparation. Questions about monitoring, consultant appointments, hospital policies and your own previous experience all need space and time that NHS appointments can’t always provide.
As your VBAC doula, I work alongside your midwifery and obstetric team to help you:
Understand your options and your rights at each stage of pregnancy
Prepare for VBAC-related appointments with confidence
Create a birth plan that reflects your wishes and accounts for different outcomes
Feel genuinely supported throughout labour, whatever direction your birth takes
I’m also a VBA3C mum myself, I’ve navigated three previous caesareans and gone on to birth vaginally, so I understand this journey from the inside as well as professionally.
Supporting Neurodivergent VBAC Families
If you’re autistic, have ADHD, or identify as AuDHD, VBAC preparation can feel particularly overwhelming; processing complex clinical information, navigating appointments, and managing uncertainty all at once. I offer neurodivergent-affirming support throughout, with adjustments to how we communicate, plan and prepare together.

Yes. Hinchingbrooke offers VBAC support, though individual circumstances and consultant recommendations vary. Having a doula alongside you can help ensure your preferences are heard and your questions answered at every appointment.
-
The Rosie is one of the region’s main maternity units and does support VBAC, though birth centre versus consultant-led care will depend on your individual risk assessment. I can help you navigate those conversations and understand your options.
-
Yes, HBAC is legally your right in the UK, regardless of individual trust policies. I support families planning HBAC across Cambridgeshire and can help you access the information and support you need to make an informed decision.
-
You don’t need one but many VBAC families find that having consistent, knowledgeable support makes a significant difference to how informed, prepared and confident they feel going into labour. Your NHS team provides clinical care; a doula provides the continuity, preparation and advocacy that sits alongside it.
